Areas We Serve
Water Heater Leak Repair
A leaking water heater can turn into a bigger problem fast. Water around the base of the unit, moisture on the tank, rust-colored water, or dripping from valves and fittings should not be ignored.
Not every leak means you need a full replacement. We find the source of the leak first, whether it is the relief valve, a connection, the drain valve, or the tank itself. If it can be repaired, we will repair it. If the tank is failing, we will tell you straight and give you clear replacement options.
Water Heater Maintenance & Flush Service
Repair or Replace Your Water Heater
Not every water heater needs to be replaced. A bad valve, worn heating element, tired anode rod, or a failed expansion tank is often a repair. Same idea on gas units — pilot and valve problems don’t always mean a new tank.
If the steel tank itself is leaking, the unit is about 8–12 years old, or it’s eaten up with corrosion, replacement is usually the smarter spend. We’ll show you both options with upfront pricing and tell you what we’d do in your house — no pressure either way.

Gas vs. Electric, Tank vs. Tankless: Which Fits Your Home?
Not every water heater is right for every house. The best choice depends on how much hot water your family uses, what utilities you have, and how much you want to spend upfront.
Gas or Electric?
Gas water heaters usually heat water faster and can cost less to operate, depending on local utility rates. If your home already has natural gas, sticking with gas often makes sense. If not, adding a gas line and proper venting can make the installation more expensive.
Electric water heaters are generally simpler to install and don’t need gas piping or exhaust venting. They’re a good option for homes without natural gas. Standard electric models may cost more to operate and take longer to reheat a full tank.
Tank or Tankless?
Traditional tank water heaters store hot water so it’s ready when you need it. They cost less upfront, but once the tank runs out, you’ll have to wait for it to heat back up.
Tankless water heaters heat water as you use it. They take up less space and can save energy over time. You’ll pay more upfront, though, and they still have limits on how much hot water they can deliver at once.
Getting the Size Right
A couple living alone won’t need the same setup as a family of five. We look at how many people live in the home, how many bathrooms you have, and whether showers, laundry, and dishes are running at the same time.
Brands we install: Rheem, A.O. Smith, and Rinnai.
Every replacement includes haul-away and disposal of your old water heater. Warranty coverage depends on the brand and model.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does water heater repair cost in Northwest GA?
Repair costs depend on the problem, the parts needed, and the type of water heater you have. True Grit Plumbing provides upfront flat-rate pricing before any work begins, so you know the cost before you approve the repair.
How long does a water heater replacement take?
Most standard tank water heater replacements take about 2 to 3 hours once we are on site. Some installations take longer depending on code upgrades, venting, or access.
Should I repair or replace my water heater?
If the unit is relatively new and the repair is reasonable, repair usually makes sense. If the tank is leaking, badly corroded, or nearing the end of its lifespan, replacement is often the better long-term option.
Do you work on both gas and electric water heaters?
Yes. We service and install both gas and electric water heaters, including traditional tank systems and many tankless models.
Do you install tankless water heaters?
Yes. We install and service tankless water heaters and can help you choose the right unit based on your home, your hot water demand, and your budget.
